About the college

Monterey Peninsula College, or MPC, is one of the 109 colleges under the California community of colleges. The school was founded in September 1947 with a dedication to quality education in a state where the top career industries call home. At MPC students are exposed to a well educated faculty and rich degree programs that can lead to a high position in the workforce, a transfer to a 4 year university, an updated skill list, a pathway to general education or greater understanding in math, reading, writing and science.

Campus

The campus for MPC is located in Monterey, California on 87 acres of land. At the campus students are encouraged to follow their education goals, rather that be a transfer to another college or university or earning a certificate or degree in their chosen field of study. Financial aid is available to those to qualify and there are qualified staff members that can help you with this process. While attending school students can benefit from learning assistance centers with focuses on English or English as a Second Language, math, reading and technology. MPC also offers CARE, which is a program to support and help single parents.

Courses

Students at MPC can choose from a variety of venues to take on their career path. The school also offers distance learning with online courses and off campus work experience. Other programs include a school of nursing, defense language institute, advanced technology education, older adult programs, fire academy/fire technology, a law enforcement academy and a park and recreation program. The academic departments at MPC offer students studies in business and technology, creative arts, humanities, life science, physical education, physical science and social science.
