About the college

In 1977, the San Joaquin Valley College, SJVC, was established to train students in career-based programs. SJVC has 8 campuses throughout the state of California and online courses available to students too. The college’s offers students over 20 programs that can lead to certificates and degrees in high demand career industries in the fields of business, medical and technical. At SJVC, the education is a mix of classroom instruction and hands on training in a real world environment.

Campus

Bakersfield, California is the home for the SJVC campus. The Bakersfield’s campus has been helping students since 1982 with career programs that benefit the individual as well as the employers in the community. The atmosphere at the campus is family oriented with small classes for individual attention from teachers, flexible scheduling, programs that can be completed in a short amount of time, financial aid options and job placement assistance upon graduation. At SJVC, their goal is your success.

Courses

The junior college offers programs in the technical field as well as business and medical. The technical programs include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and industrial technology. Both programs offer certificates of completion and the HVAC-refrigeration program offers an associate of science degree too. Programs in the medical field include clinical/administrative medical assisting, dental assisting, pharmacy technology, respiratory therapy, surgical technology and therapeutic massage.

The business programs offered to students are business administration, criminal justice-corrections, emergency services, safety management, and health care insurance specialist. At San Joaquin Valley College students can study and work towards their future careers with a rich curriculum and a dedicated faculty. The end result is a graduate with the skills and confidence to find their place in the competitive job market.
