About the college

Beauty and cosmetology are top industries that are in high demand. At Lyles Bakersfield College of Beauty, their focus is on the beauty field and the success of their students. Their mission is to prepare students for the California State board exam and lead them into exciting salon careers. While women make up the majority of the student body men are still more than welcome to make their mark on the beauty world.

Campus

Bakersfield, California is the home for the Lyles campus. The training at the campus gives students a history into cosmetology with intense classroom work that eventually leads students into the campus salon. Once there students perform haircuts, skin care treatments, nail procedures and other cosmetic applications on the community with professional supervision. This gives students real world job experience plus a way to network and build up a clientele. While attending classes at the Bakersfield campus students can enjoy local California attractions, academic/career counseling, and career placement upon graduation.

Courses

The programs offered at Lyles are all based on beauty applications and the cosmetology field. Students can choose from a general cosmetology program that is a 1600-clocked hour’s program that covers all parts of cosmetology like hair, nails, skin, customer service, and salon procedures. There are two other cosmetology courses available. One has a focus on personal grooming and the other bases its studies on barber/styling and nails. The aesthetician/esthetician program is a skin care program that requires 600-clocked hours in order to complete. The last program is a 400-clocked hour’s nail technician program.

Beauty is a fast growing field where Lyles Bakersfield graduates can start a career as a hair stylist or nail tech and work their way to being a salon owner.
