About the college

Religion and education go hand in hand at Loyola Marymount University, or LMU. The university is Catholic influenced with roots in Marymount and Jesuit traditions. Loyola was founded in 1911 and has been teaching the word of God ever since. The mission at LMU is to educate the whole person with faith and justice based learning that leads graduates to careers that help the community and the common good.

Campus

The campus of LMU is located in west LA on 150 acres of land. LA is a city of diversity and beauty. The campus here was voted as one of the most beautiful campuses by the Princeton Review and the students could not agree more. The campus offers student housing with apartments and 20 residence halls. Student life at LMU is not boring in any way. The campus offers clubs, athletics organizations, religious services and ministry, student government and art/entertainment venues. Students also benefit from transfer programs, a first year experience program, and public transportation to and from the campus.

Courses

LMU offers students graduate and undergraduate programs, continuing education and schools/colleges dedicated to a specific field of study. They focus on liberal arts, business administration, communication/fine arts, law, education, film, television, and science/engineering. The continuing education program can give working adults the opportunity to further their education without leaving the workforce. Undergraduate and graduate programs teach skills in business, fine arts, and other career driven fields of study.

At LMU, they teach how to take religious concepts and apply them to everyday life and education. This way graduates can go on to ministry work, leadership positions in the workforce or community outreach programs. LMU wants their students to be a productive part of the community in whatever field that they feel comfortable with.
