About the college

In July 1963, Merced College opened its doors and began an educational journey with its students. Students are the core that holds the college together and the school has strong ties with the community, diversity, and cultural activities. The education at Merced College is full of innovative instruction paired with a nurturing environment. Once a student at the college always a student. Even when students graduate and go on to rewarding careers they can still call Merced College, MCCD, home.

Campus

At the campus location in Merced, California, students are surrounded by beautiful city sites, a caring faculty, and unbeatable education. Life at the campus is full of student activities, clubs, and organizations. Other amenities at the campus include a library, bookstore, dining, career/transfer center, counseling, and guidance. Students also have a child development center, job placement, job skills lab, health and personnel services, tutoring and transfer services. Beyond the amazing academic programs and curriculum are various athletics programs for all students to enjoy by supporting during a game or playing on a team.

Courses

MCCD offers students seven instructional areas to choose for their studies. Area 1 involves science, math, and engineering. In area, two students can beef up current basic skills in child development, English, and guidance. In this program, there are credit and non-credit classes. Area 3 takes students into the fields of agriculture, career technical education, and physical education. Area 4 has the most programs to choose from. Students can take classes in allied health, business, criminal justice, computer science, corrections, fire science, foods and nutrition, and management.

The last two areas involve fine arts, humanities, social science, community services, non-credit courses, and workforce development. Area 7 is the Los Banos campus where students can earn transfer for liberal studies major or an associate in arts degree in general studies, early childhood education or business. MCCD is your pathway to the future.
