In the state of California there are numerous salons in the area for beauty school graduates to work and shine with their newly acquired skills. Sierra College of Beauty offers its students hands on career training with classroom instruction and salon work on the community. Tuition at the college of beauty is relatively inexpensive with the total under 10,000 dollars and financial aid is available to those who qualify.

Campus

The Sierra College salon campus is located in Merced, California. At the college, classes start each month and are offered Tuesday through Saturday. Students do have the option of only taking the esthetician course which provides training in make up and skin care. The salon services at the college run from 4 dollars for a haircut and 3 to 10 dollars for manicures and pedicures. All students at Sierra College receive a kit when they start school and a black smock that is to be worn while attending classes. The uniform at Sierra includes the smock, black or white pants or a skirt and shoes that are all black or white.

Courses

Sierra College offers future beauty field graduates courses in an esthetician program, cosmetology and manicuring. The esthetician program requires 600 hours to complete which rounds out to be around 4 months to graduate. Chemical peels, waxing and make up applications are taught. Manicuring is a 400-hour course taking 2 and a half months to complete while the cosmetology course is 1600 hours with a year to complete. All aspects of beauty are taught.
