About the college
Since 1904, this college has been giving the highest quality education to students in the field of optometry. They also teach some clinical outreach programs and residency programs. There are 7 acres on this campus that houses the classrooms and office as well as a library, campus store, and the Clinic where they see patients and use this for hands on training. The staff at SCCO is the most qualified in the state. The make sure they are the best with interviews, background checks, and some other selective activities to determine if they qualify to teach at SCCO. They do not discriminate against anyone who applies for job at their school.
About the campus
They do not have on campus housing but there are many apartments and rental houses for the students to choose from. There are two privately owned dormitory style apartments within walking distance as well. Half of the students enrolled live within 1 mile of the college. The neighborhood is a suburban residential neighborhood that is amazingly quiet.
About the courses
Courses offered at SCCO will educate you in the field of optometry and you will receive hands on experience by seeing patients in the College's Carling Huntington Childs Family Eye Care Center. The Interns begin seeing their own patients in the Eye Care Center in the third quarter of their second year and you will be not only shown, but told how to do the procedures. You will be taught by highly educated and qualified staff not graduates. Total enrollment is 385 and all are full time. SCCO has a career placement program to help you get a job right out of school if you want otherwise you can wait and they will help you later on.
