About the college

College of the Sequoias is a two-year community college in California that was established in 1926. At that time, it was known as Visalia Junior college and a department of the city high school. They have more than 12,000 enrolled every year. The college offers a variety of transfer, vocational, and community based classes. The college was named after the famous giant Sequoia trees, which are inhabitant to the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which is close by.

Campus

College of the Sequoias offers childcare for students, staff, and the public. The do not offer on campus housing but have several student apartment buildings, as well as Host families and there are houses many students share the rent on. Several houses are made for students where there are 10-15 rooms that share the larger than normal kitchen and living areas. These are for single students, no families. There are no meals on campus but you will find many vending machines for late night snacks. Many purchase meals off campus at the many restaurants and grocery stores.

Courses

The most popular courses taken are family and social work, nursing and emergency medicine, liberal arts and law. There are thousands of courses available. Contact the school to see what the class schedules include and talk to the support staff to find out what you want to do and what courses you will need to take to achieve this goal. They are there to help you reach your goal. The tuition for In State is $606 and Out of state is $6,234. Books and other supplies are $1,386. Financial aid is available to every student who wishes to apply. College of Sequoias has a faculty of 127 Full time teachers with tenure and 37 without, working towards it and 12 without and not available to them.
