Colleges In Tulare County

Tulare County is one with many parks, various bodies of water, and numerous educational opportunities. It is pleasing to the eye as well as the mind. Tulare County is located in the Central Valley in the state of California. It is just south of the city of Fresno.

The founding of Tulare County started in 1852 from parts of Mariposa County. Years passed and the county contributed parts to the other California counties of Fresno, Kern, Inyo, and Kings.

Education is an important key to keeping Tulare in the minds of many. There are colleges and universities located in the county that include California State University (CSU), Fresno, Bakersfield, and many others. County schools and districts for little ones are also available.

If you come to Tulare for quality education you will not be disappointed, but you will notice its beauty as you enter and travel through the county. Its name actually comes from Tulare Lake, which was once the largest freshwater lake of the infamous Great Lakes. It has since been drained and is now the site for another California county: Kings County.

Sequoia National Park calls Tulare County home. Parts of Kings Canyon National Park and Mount Whitney do the same. Imagine being surrounded by Crescent Lake, the Yucca River, the Pixley National Wildlife Refuge, and Lackeys Cabin. That can be a reality if you visit or live in Tulare County.

With all of the outdoor beauty, it is easy to see why Tulare would be a great place for lovers of the outdoors. Families are also a part of the community, but Tulare County also has a downside. The disease Tularemia was named for the county and is infectious. It is also known as rabbit fever and can be treated with antibiotics.

While Tulare County is profitable with commodities like milk, grapes, oranges, and cattle related products they do have a high rate of poverty. Milk makes the most for the county with revenues that reach more than one billion annually. Because of its agricultural success over Fresno County, it hosts the annual World Ag Expo.

As far as politics go in Tulare County, the residents are strictly republican. Both presidential and congressional elections are based on republican officials and the last democratic elected was way back in 1964 with Lyndon B. Johnson.

Visalia is the county seat of Tulare County and the population is growing annually with 360,000 to date. You will not be alone when visiting or residing, but the scenery will seem serene as if you are the only one viewing it. With parks and forests, all around there are numerous outdoors activities to enjoy. You can hike, water ski, snow ski, fish, go boating, or enjoy white water rafting with the family. Make a day of it at the Tulare County Museum of the county fair when it comes to town. Take in a Visalia Oaks baseball game to if you have time and it is baseball season, of course.

Tulare County can be your new home or annual vacation spot.
