About the college

The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, FIDM, goes hand in hand with the names Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn. Of course, I am speaking of the hit show Project Runway where many of the shows contestants had graduated from FIDM and even the season 5 winner Leanne Marshall graduated from the school in 2001. At the institute, students can take their creative spirits and turn them into a rewarding career in fashion, graphic design and many other exciting opportunities.

Campus

The San Francisco campus is located right in the heart of the city’s Union Square, which is a shopping area that takes third place as the biggest in the country. FIDM is conveniently located with the Juicy Couture Boutique and Barney’s New York located near by. Gap Inc., Levi’s and Williams Sonoma are all headquartered in northern California so you will not be without the proper company for your educational pursuit at FIDM.

Courses

At FIDM, there are 18 majors that can take students on the most creative journey of their lifetime. Some of the areas of interest include apparel manufacturing management, visual communications, theatre costume design and entertainment set design and decoration. Students can work towards associate of arts degrees, associate of arts professional designation degrees and associate of arts advanced study or Bachelor of Science degrees. Students can also take courses online.

When your creativity can earn you a place at an accredited institute and then earn you a career in the field of your choice there is no greater feeling. At FIDM your dreams can come true and your name can be on the next most wanted pair of jeans, sneakers or you can be an in demand interior designer or work on TV and film.
