About the College

The Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College-Berkeley was established in 1990 and its funding came from donations from the Meiji Institute of Japan and some of its graduates. The college began in San Francisco, however, in January of 1999; the school was relocated to provide a better educational environment for students to Berkeley, California. By 2005, the college was offering a wide array of course including acupuncture integrative medicine certification and medical Qigong certification, and more.

Today, the College is located in Berkeley, CA to better serve the schools students with a top-notch facility that enables world-class education and practice for acupuncture and integrative medicine to be administered in the United States. Students who study at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College-Berkeley receive in-depth clinical training in traditional Chinese medicine, integrative medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, and Japanese needling technique.

Campus

The campus is one to be admired whether you wish to attend the college or the community clinic. The design of the building is one that allows natural light to stream into the classroom, the aroma drifting from the herb room, and of course, the beauty seen outside the large picture window is enough to give you an at home feeling.

The facility offers 14,000 square feet designed for the needs of the students as well as the community. The upstairs is home to 4 classrooms, a lecture room with large herbal sample library, two other lecture rooms, a large observation room with several treatment tables. The library contains thousands of collections with English, Chinese, and Japanese languages, over 30 titles of Eastern and Western medical journals, and 300 reference titles.

Downstairs is home to the Community clinic and herbal dispensary. The clinic offers advanced electrical acupuncture and non-invasive stimulation equipment, which is not available at most acupuncture schools, as well as infrared heat lamps, moxibustion, cupping, and spooning. The dispensary offers 350 raw herbs, and hundreds of formulae.
