About the College

Located at the base of Mount Shasta, College of the Siskiyous is one of the most beautiful campuses in California. The campus spans 250 acres and easily accessible from both roads from the town of Weed. More than 3000 students enroll every year and enjoy what College of the Siskiyous has to offer besides their education. The natural setting with the mountains, forests, and lakes serves as the outdoor workshop for many of the courses offered. The outdoor recreation is second to none with hiking, skiing, swimming, rafting, rock and mountain climbing just to name a few. They have football, volleyball, basketball, softball and track teams if you’re into sports.

Campus

The campus includes 2 residence halls that provide housing for 136 residents. The two story buildings have four wings that offer a common bathroom for each separate wing. Rooms are double occupancy and each lodge has a study room, a TV room, and laundry and recreation area. Both lodges have 24-hour campus safety specialist and a RA lives in each wing. Each resident is required to purchase a meal plan.

Courses

The main course students are taking is security and law enforcement, nursing and emergency medicine and liberal arts. These are just the most popular of the thousands of courses available. The tuition for in state is $624, out of state is $5,550, room and board is $7,500, books and materials $1,350. Financial assistance is available to the students who want to apply. There are 50 teachers and staff which 35 are full time. There is the option of part time and weekends available as well as full time studies. In 2007, they have awarded 173 Associate degrees, 1-year certificates was 96 and 1-2 year certificates was 46. In 2007 there were 2,782 students enrolled with 1, 543 being full time students.
