About the college

The School of Urban Missions gives students the education that they need when the call of Christian ministry or spiritual leadership is what you desire to do. The focus of the school is urban ministry where the need for God is the greatest. The training at the school is hands on with local ministries in California and classroom work with qualified and well educated faculty members. With unbeatable religious education, affordable tuition and an opportunity to work with and help reshape the community it is easy to see why so many seek out the School of Urban Missions.

Campus

The campus is located in Oakland, California. 35,000 square feet of campus give students 2 buildings located in the inner city Sobrante Park Area of Oakland. The area is known for gang violence, crime and poverty so that really is a great foundation for students to start their urban mission education. Students can experience evangelism, street preaching and prison ministry. SUM, School of Urban Missions, believes that anyone hurting or in need or help can be reached.

Courses

There are 4 program choices for ministry students at SUM to choose from. Graduates can choose from a Bachelor of Arts degree, associate of arts degree, a one year certificate and a servant of all philosophy. The bachelor’s degree focuses on biblical studies, church planting, global missions, pastoral ministry or youth ministry. The associate of arts degree offers courses in bible study and general studies. The one year certificate program helps members of the clergy and ministerial staff to study theological education.
