About the college

City College of San Francisco is a two-year college, which has enrollment of over 100,000 students. This is the largest community and junior college in the United States and the second largest collegiate institution of all colleges. It was founded in 1936 and has the oldest two year hospitality program in the country and their emphasizing culinary arts is the oldest of any kind and has the highest enrollment of 200 international students. City College was the first of its kind to offer training as aircraft mechanics to women. Being so, it has started the first Women’s study program.

Campus

City College of San Francisco does not offer on campus housing but there are three options available to students, which are:
• Homestay: There are a few select families that provide rooms with two meals a day or breakfast only. This option lets them learn from American families and being part of the family, they are usually included in family activities.
• Residence Clubs: These are little apartments that either come with meals or have a kitchen in them. You can meet different people from all over the world here.
• Shared Housing: This option you will share a room or house with other students. Rent can be from 500 to 800 per month, depending on the number of people in the house.

There are libraries for your studying needs as well as computer labs. There are restaurants and stores close by where you can go shop for a day. There are several bookstores to buy all your books.

Courses

City College of San Francisco offers over 100 credit and noncredit certificate, Award of Achievement, and degree programs to their students. Some of the courses includes Computer science, Health, Automotive, Biological, Film, Photography, Trade Skills, Fashion, Journalism, Business and Child development just to name a few.
